We're back!! So just where did my husband (of one whole year now!) whisk me away to for our anniversary???
OCHO RIOS, JAMAICA!!!
We had such an amazing trip. The weather was fabulous, the water warm, the sun hot and the drinks cold. Just the way I like it. I can't say the same for our flights there or back, but I'll save that story for another day. For now, I'd just like to focus on all of my favorite memories from our first anniversary. And for that, I'm going to go all yearbook-superlative style...
Memory Most Likely To Happen Again (Hopefully)
For those of you who have visited my blogroll, you might be familiar with Nicole of Unnaturally Blonde. What you don't know is that we met each other on our honeymoons in St. Lucia last year. We're each the better halves of very social couples, so much so that we did just about every activity on our honeymoon. In fact, we met during the ring toss. Anyway, we really hit it off and discovered that they too live in Northern VA and even better, they're both Penn Staters. Which leaves me the odd girl out since I went to the University of Richmond. Go Spiders! However, I have a special affinity for Penn State since they were the first college to recruit me and I guess because Jon went there. I joke, honey, I joke. Thanks to MySpace, we kept in touch over this past year and coincidentally enough, they planned their anniversarymoon for the same resort that Jon took me to. When I started posting pictures of my puzzle, Nicole knew right away where he was taking me. So we got to hang out with them again this year! And not to my surprise, we each revealed that we want to go to Antigua next. So who knows, this just might become a tradition!
Memory Most Likely to Make Me Laugh Out Loud
Oh there are so many, that I can't name just one. There's Jon and I competing on the couples game show, dancing on a bar with Nicole to the "Bamboo Song", Jon being the klutziest he has ever been and tripping over everything in his path (sorry babe, you know I have a twisted sense of humor), and oh, er, the puking incident. Which is hands down the funniest, but I'm not quite sure I can elaborate. I'll get back to you on that one.
Memory Most Likely to Make Me Swoon
I've always known that Jon is a romantic guy, but I wasn't really expecting Jon to do anything else for our anniversary since he already planned our fantastic trip and bought me my paper gift. Well, he really outdid himself this time. On our anniversary, we had planned to go to the Asian restaurant at the resort. I started to suspect that we would not be using chopsticks that night when I was led to a candlelight dinner under a white tent on the beach at sunset. It was breathtaking. We had white glove service and Jon had carefully handpicked our menu. Our waitress even serenaded us with "All My Life". It was absolutely tranquil and romantic and perfect and nothing I say will do it justice. Sigh...so lovely.
Memory That Made Me Say WTF?!?!
We happened to be visiting Jamaica on their election day. They aren't allowed to serve or sell alcohol for at least the first half of the day. Note to self: Do not visit Jamaica on their election day ever again. Especially when you are paying for all-inclusive drinks.
And now I'll leave you all with some pictures. Though I sorely miss the sun and the sand, I'm glad to be back, internets.
"And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand, They danced by the light of the moon, the moon, the moon, They danced by the light of the moon." ~Edward Lear~
