In the seemingly never-ending world of home improvements, Jon and I have decided to embark on yet another adventure: painting our bedroom. Currently, it's still sporting the boring off-white color that was on the walls when we moved in. Since those walls are the only walls left that have not been painted over by us, we figured it was about time we got around to it.
I can't find a picture of our bedding online, but it basically looks like this (minus the pattern).
Rather than using white as our accent color, we have a deep chocolate brown for our accent pieces (pillows and window treatments) and our bedroom furniture is a beautiful deep mahogany. As you all might remember from our previous paint jobs, the rest of our condo is painted a lovely shade of tan (except for our red accent wall in the living room and our 'horseradish' colored bathroom). So needless to say, I don't want to paint any variation of brown or tan on our walls. We need some other color!
Jon and I both like earthy blues and greens so we pulled a few paint swatches while at Lowes this weekend. We don't want to go too dark since our room isn't all that big, but we also don't want to have a barely there color. We've narrowed it down to two paints that honestly look almost the same to me. I couldn't find the paint swatches online, but I was able to scan them in as a PDF. Here they are:Download paint.pdf
I'm leaning towards the morning breeze color. It looks a little more calming and a little less gray. But have I ever mentioned how terrible I am at picking paint colors? They never quite turn out the way I want them to look. Hence, our bathroom that has been painted two different colors and I'm still not happy with it!
And in my continuing tradition of finding things to spend our money on*, I found a new bedroom set for us for when we move to a new home. In a year. This deal is too good to pass up though and both Jon and I love the bright, cheerful green color of this set. It's only $199.99 for a 24 piece King set!! It's regularly $600!! We don't even own a King sized bed yet, but after a year and a half of marriage with a 6'3" husband and one 5 pound dog who snores, we've decided that a King would do wonders for us. We'll just store this set away until we move. But really, can you believe this set comes with the comforter, two standard shams, two European shams, flat sheet, fitted sheet, two pillowcases, bedskirt, two decorative pillows, four drapes, four valances and four tiebacks all for that price? Amazing! Now, should we get a King or California King?
*You might not believe it due to my spend! spend! spend! posts of late, but we actually do have a monthly budget that we stick to. We were even under last month! Well, if I'm being completely honest, I was a wee bit over my personal spending budget, but it was my stupid car registration and inspection that put me over the edge. Well, and a few trips to Target and Old Navy. Yeah.
