In one month, just one itty, bitty month, Jonathan and I will have been married for two years. TWO YEARS, people! You know what that means? We can no longer refer to ourselves as newlyweds. Not that Jon ever used that term anyway, but I sure as hell have milked it for all it's worth! Come September 1st, Jon and will just be plain, old married folks and you know what? I quite like that. We have earned the distinction of not being newlyweds by surviving our first two years of marriage in 690 square feet of living space! Yes, we are martyrs. And yes, I am kidding. Marriage has been ridiculously easy for us and I don't know what everyone was talking about when they said the first year of marriage was the hardest...it surely wasn't and neither was the second!
This year, our anniversary happens to fall on Labor Day and as I mentioned way back in February, we're going to the Adventura Spa Palace in Riviera Maya, Mexico to celebrate it. In anticipation of this fabulous vacation, I think I've set a record with bikini buying this summer. I just couldn't help myself because the lovely Victoriakeeps discounting them more and more each week! I had been eying the latest bikini for weeks and weeks and finally decided to just suck it up and buy it. It wasn't getting any cheaper and I didn't want it to be sold out. It's so different and gorgeous and it's in a color that I wouldn't normally consider: purple. Well, plum to be exact. Though I hate to admit this, because I adore Jennie and Jess, I have always quite hated the color purple. (Though I loved the movie!)
In fact, I can remember throwing an absolute fit when I was a teenager because my mom went shopping and kindly bought me a lilac-colored sweater. Lord, how did she manage not to murder me in my sleep? Such an ungrateful child! A few years ago, I actually started wearing purple eyeshadow when I read that purple shades highlight green eyes the best. Something about them being opposites on the color wheel. So I do wear purple and grayish eyeshadow and it doeshighlight my greenish-hazel eyes quite nicely. I've slowly been integrating purple into other areas of my life as well. I bought a gorgeous deep purple dress for our anniversarymoon last year, a satin purple halter at Express and a deep purple tank top at Old Navy this summer.
See, I think I've finally figured purple out. Lilac and lavender and amethyst...I'm sorry, I still don't care for you very much. You don't bring out the best in me and I've just never really enjoyed you. But plum and indigo? I think I kind of like you! Not only do you bring out my eyes, but you look pretty nice against my olive skin too! Clearly, I've overcome my hatred of purple! Well, a little bit at least.

And my profile picture? That's my satin halter top from Express. I do like you, purple, I really do!
